My habit is to write episodes of a particular story until I run out of interesting ideas to go forward with.
Then to think about the stories I’ve left abandoned for longest, and see if I can have a new idea which excites me about one of those, and thus produce one or more new episodes.
Amazingly, within a few minutes, I can get myself back into any one of these stories in my head, and remember what was special about it: scenario, plot, character, whatever.
This (hopefully) has the nice effect of surfacing stories from way back in the timeline, so that readers can turn up to a new post, discover it’s Part 5 or whatever, and thus get 5 posts to read which are new to them (of course there are a few readers who have read the lot, thank you so much! - but I’m also guessing that a substantial number have just read a few - I don’t do any tracking, so I can’t know for sure).
Rinse and repeat.
But sometimes, I have a new idea which needs a new beginning, so that a brand new Story is needed. And so it takes longer and longer before each series gets its time in the sun…
I thought I ought to take a look at just how many ongoing stories there are on this site, and I shocked myself.
This is a crazy list! I can’t hope to get all of these to a conclusion (do I even want conclusions?).
Anyway, no pressure at all, but if you have a fave here which you want more of, ping a quick comment - give me your top 3 even… Any other thoughts as to how to proceed (no guarantee I’ll listen..).
