Excerpt from a document prepared for potential investors in the Castle’s newest proposal — a man-made island resort in the centre of China’s largest lake, Qinghai. The resort will be developed in partnership with the PLA as an exclusive (and essentially secret) resort where the Chinese elites can mix with invited foreign guests. It is not clear whether this project was carried through, or, if it was, whether it has been completed. Membership of The Castle is, famously, enormously expensive. There is a wait-list for all the establishments; Macau, Moscow, Paris, New Orleans, New York, both the private islands.
